      • Dubbed in both Tamil and Telugu languages, the film stars Padukone as Padmini, Ranveer Singh as Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Ratan Singh. It tells the story of legendary 14th-century Hindu queen Padmini, who is married to Ratan Singh, king of the northern Indian kingdom of Chittor, but desired by conquering Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji, the sultan of Delhi. The story of Khilji’s sacking of Chittor, the slaying of Ratan Singh, and the mass self-immolation by the women of the kingdom is the stuff of history and legend. History because Khilji and Ratan Singh are historical figures; legend because Padmini’s existence is a matter of debate
